Kathmandu, Nov 12 : Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has said the country’s existing education system has been one of the means of creating class division, as quality of community schools is gradually eroding and the private schools are for the property-owning class.
Inaugurating the golden jubilee celebrations of the Bhimsengola Secondary School here Sunday, Vice President Pun said the social awareness campaign for importance of education was first launched from the community-level and there was no debate that community-run schools should be promoted with the guarantee of quality education.
Education system of the international standard is the need of the hour and significant change in the education sector should be the focus of community schools, according to the Vice President.
Stating that the Nepal’s constitution has guaranteed the right to free education up to the secondary level, he drew the attention of school management committees, teachers and parents towards ensuring quality education to children. He was of the view of controlling over the private education sector through the means of an education system serving the interests of nation.
Also speaking on the occasion, Nepali Congress leader Prakashman Singh demanded quality education to students as the education was the means of enlightenment. He said he was personally assisting the school.
School Principal Ganesh Kumar Rai informed the school that was started from a private house in 2022 BS, would focus on technical education in the days ahead.
