Kathmandu, Nov 29 : Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has appealed to voters to make the NC victorious in the near-coming elections to ensure development and prosperity of the country.
Speaking at an election mass meeting organised by NC Kathmandu-5 here today, Mr Deuba urged the voters to vote for the NC in the December 7 elections for institutional development of democracy and stability in the country. “NC led the downfall of the autocratic Rana regime and removed the panchayat system to rule the country. It was under NC leadership that the country got an inclusive constitution. Hence, if NC wins the people will be the rulers,” he said.
NC President Deuba also claimed that domestic and foreign investment could be ensured for the country’s prosperity only with NC-led government.
Party’s general secretary Dr Shashank Koirala said the NC has a clear vision of development and if it was given the leadership of the country then it would change the face of it in ten years.
Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, candidate from Kathmandu-5, appealed for votes to the election symbol of tree to ensure development and employment in the constituency.
RPP-D Chair Pashupati Shumsher Rana said democratic alliance was essential in order to form a democratic government.
Earlier in the day, speaking at a rally in Bulingtar of Nawalparasi, Prime Minister Deuba said a win of the communist alliance in the polls would rid the people of the right to expression, writing and to property. “This constitution gives space to all, including the indigenous, nationalities and madhesis, but the communists want to dissolve the same constitution and impose feudalism,” he said.
Likewise, NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel said a communist alliance government would first start with putting an end to the provision of inclusion, and that a directly elected executive would not protect democracy in a third world country.
